The conflict in Western Sahara is a decolonization inconclusive because of the obstructionist attitude of Morocco, with the permissiveness of the international community (UN and EU) the explicit support of France and Spain refused to accept its responsibility as a former colonial power.
Therefore, this conflict will culminate with the holding of a referendum with all democratic guarantees and transparency.
The right to self-determination of the people is recognized by numerous UN resolutions, the EU and the AU. The framework for resolving this conflict has been set by the United Nations in its resolution 1495 of July 2003, known as the Baker Plan, approved unanimously by the Security Council and accepted by the Polisario Front. However, Morocco prevents its application in violation of international law and promoting thus a situation of instability and insecurity in the region.

Today, the conflict is in a situation of stagnation and blockage, which is seen by the Morocco as favorable and a means of discouraging Sahraouis.De result, the status quo became the only way to keep control of the territory. Therefore, any proposal that departs from the requirement of self-determination referendum is doomed to failure and places the conflict in the impasse. It should be noted that Morocco is an occupying force and is not legitimate position to submit proposals. Its position has to take the resolutions of the international community.
Unlocking can be done by requiring, with firmness of Morocco stand on the legality and the rule of law Saharawi people's inalienable self-determination.
The situation of illegal occupation for more than 35 years of territories by Morocco in Western Sahara was made possible only by a permanent law enforcement on the Saharawi people by violating human rights on a continuous basis: arbitrary detention, imprisonment, disappearances, torture, judgments without guarantees, banning demonstrations and association, assassinations, which created an explosive situation in the territory. This repression was never able to overcome the resistance of the Saharawi along these 35 years.
Added to this, again, the plundering of Western Sahara's natural against all legal relations of the United Nations, such as the legal assessor Hans Corell (2002)
During all this time occupation and particularly since May 2005, the Saharawi population in the occupied territories has organized demonstrations in major cities of Western Sahara to demand its most basic rights. Events that had no echo in the UN and the EU. Demonstrations in the street outside prisons and concentration centers of torture, denunciation of unjust judgments, raised flags, graffiti on walls, fighting against the police, etc., are some actions that make up a civil resistance and peaceful population that has provided the world the urgent need for a solution before the arrival of a bloodbath that nobody wants but is encouraged by the silence of the international community.
Protest Camp Gdeym Izik is extremely important. Thousands of Saharawi have defied the most ferocious repression and have dared, in the largest peaceful demonstration conducted in the occupied territories, to defeat Moroccan and question authority.
It is not wrong to say that organized protest in El Aaiun in October 2009, was the embryo of revolts after the Arab world has known.
After this protest, the Moroccan government has banned the entry to journalists to keep away any evidence of the international press. Now, all that will happen will be held in camera closed despite the presence there of the UN force, MINURSO

Faced with this situation, it should be recalled that the United Nations:
- Did not respond despite constant appeals launched by President Mohamed Abdelaziz to the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon due to constant violations by Morocco of human rights.
- declines to rule against the illegal exploitation of Saharawi
- Located the aggressor and the victim in the same balance to complaints raised by both parties and with their different versions on events.
- is silent face of fortification work of the berm Moroccan
- denies taking action against violations of the cease-fire committed by Morocco
- not publish the report of the Council on Human Rights UN developed after a visit to the occupied territories and refugee camps in Algeria in May 2006.
All these findings and blocking the peace process is a factor of instability in the region in addition to the configuration as the Arab revolt now is being transformed.

In this context will take place in March 2011, yet another meeting between the Frente Polisario and Morocco . A meeting still characterized by Morocco's intransigence and refusal to negotiate without preconditions, despite the important role of mediating the Personal Envoy of the UN Chritstopher Ross.
supports the Saharawi people since 1975, on one hand the harshness of exile in refugee camps, and the other, persecution, torture and violations of human rights in the territories controlled Morocco.
Despite this, he has kept intact its aspiration to freedom and to live peacefully in their land. The brutal repression has never been able to overcome his will and strength. A reality that those who favor the status quo does not want to face.
